009 - Inmate: The Doctor

[Private to Six]

[Seven has read up and is facing the screen with a straight back.] It appears we have been assigned together. State a location for a meeting.

[Time Lord Filter except Six]

[Equally business-like] I require further background on your culture.

[Santa Filter]

[Seven now looks like someone who's just done something that she hadn't expected. Apparently she didn't mean to address it to this 'Santa' person, but there she is. She adapts and carries on.] Dear... Santa.

It appears that I must address you with a list of requests. I wish for a Kadis-kot game for myself.

If Wanda returns, I would wish her to have a set of Anbo-jyutsu mallets and helmets.

The Doctor... my new inmate, would perhaps appreciate Strategema

[OOC: Omega replied with a basic 'it's your job to warden, not judge' in a tone that suggested that he was thinking of what happened with Rassilon and afraid it would happen again. Seven, not really understanding, rose an eyebrow and replied with 'noted'.]

He attempted to steal my TARDIS. [Telling on himself! ...For TARDIS theft. He's a little ashamed somehow, and not in the way someone would think he should be.]

As for Time Lords, well... I suppose the Coordinator and my brother could give you greater details on planetary matters.

Indeed? May I ask what precautions you have taken since?

Perhaps, though you would be useful in describing your relationship to it.
championoftime: (7.2 - do you believe all this?)

I can't take many, as he's me. He knows as much about her as I do. A good start would be taking away his key.

My relationship to it is rather strained. I've been avoiding it for several reasons, however during his lifetime I was dragged back into the thick of it and it brought out the worst in me. [Says the man that would talk people into killing themselves.] The laws there have always been ridiculously strict, the policies of non-interference only applicable when they're convenient [distastefully] and the world is slowly destroying itself. They put me in a position of authority when they're in need of my special talents and treat me as a common criminal otherwise. He exists in one of the latter occasions.

However, these are my perceptions as I am now. While my core moral centre remains the same, frequently my tastes, preferences, and even past insight alters with each regeneration. Unlike some Time Lords, they tend to be stressful occasions with me and I have difficulty maintaining consistency from one personality to the other.

I will do so. It would assist me if you did not allow him in your cabin in future.

Understood. Perceptions often change, particularly given a traumatic experience. I may retain a lot of my physical attributes, but I am not the same as I was as a child.
championoftime: (7.2 - scuze me?)

I was flood affected and asking for assistance. He took advantage of himself.

[Yes, this is as weird as it sounds.]

How are you different, might I ask?

[Private]

[identity profile] not-annika.livejournal.com 2011-12-16 08:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Understood.

...It is a long story.

I approve of long stories, but I suspect his will consume most of today. I should know. I've been there. But perhaps some other time.

Perhaps.

Oh wonderful, it's you.

How about the CES? I've been meaning to give that place a visit.

Agreed. I will meet you on the deck.

I'll see you soon.

[Seven doesn't respond by communicator, merely waits on deck near the warden areas, file in her hand, tricorder and phaser in their places on her belt. Not that she plans on using her phaser, but given the quality of the inmates, it's the sensible precaution.]

[The Doctor arrived a few moments late, wearing his same, ridiculous outfit. As he spots Seven, he acknowledges her with a nod of his head as he walks over to her.]

"Well, shall we get this over with?"

[Seven raises an eyebrow, wondering if the Doctor expects her to wave a magic wand, declare him all better and send him on his way. Still, her hesitation is short before she makes her way to the warden area and onto the CES, using her tricorder. If the Doctor peers over her shoulder, he'll see his status in the read out.

When the CES opens, she gestures for the Doctor to precede her.] Proceed.

[The Doctor briskly walked past Seven and looked at the CES, slightly judgmental look in his eyes. He frowned, looking it over.]

It could be worse, I guess. I've seen more advanced technology.

As have I. [That is less about the CES than not being impressed with the Doctor's pronouncement. So what?]

The reason why you've 'selected' to be here. [She holds up the file.]

'Delinquent' suggests a youth, which you are not. It is not a review focused on your 'misdeeds' but rather a review of your personality, listing your less desirable and morally... insufficient attributes. It seems, Doctor, you are on the verge of being more of a danger than a help.

[personal profile] changemydear 2011-12-17 06:14 pm (UTC)(link)
None of my attributes are morally insufficient. I'm perfectly fine the way I am.

If you were aware of your deficiencies, you would be able to overcome them. As clearly that is not the case, you will remain.

You can get off this boat, on condition of your behaviour changing. Unless you want me to shoot you, I cannot affect your shouting.

Perhaps you should decide on the virtue of those standards by examining them before you dismiss them.

My dear, I can make this "redemption" as easy or as painful for you as I want. Don't test me.

[identity profile] not-annika.livejournal.com 2011-12-21 02:25 pm (UTC)(link)
[Seven responds with a shrug.] You are missing the point. My pain is irrelevant. This redemption is for you alone, I am merely assigned to assist you.

What do you need to know?

I warn you that that renegade doesn't particularly respect our culture or laws, so anything I say about Gallifreyans in general it's quite possible that he does the opposite just to be contrary.

[Filter]

[identity profile] not-annika.livejournal.com 2011-12-16 08:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Then logically, I would need to know what he's doing the opposite to in order to predict it. But your culture can affect you now, regardless of how you disapprove of its... methods. [She's just compared the Borg to the Time Lords, Narvin.]
timesbureaucrat: (CIA)

[Filter]

[personal profile] timesbureaucrat 2011-12-16 09:37 pm (UTC)(link)
[Narvin would not like this Borg/Time Lord comparison if he knew.]

In that case, I'll start with the laws of time and the non-intervention policy, both of which are cornerstones of our culture and both of which he frequently ignores. [As do the CIA, but the CIA are allowed to. Because he says so.]

[Filter]

[identity profile] not-annika.livejournal.com 2011-12-16 09:43 pm (UTC)(link)
The Federation worlds have a similar policy. Indeed, we consider it our prime directive, in both encountering foreign species and time travel. It is broken only in extreme circumstances and there are sanctions and reviews in those circumstances. [And the TIA don't consider themselves an exception.]

Then you understand why his behaviour is considered criminal.

[But since other Doctors have been here as wardens, that's presumably not going to be much of an issue for Six's graduation.]

Our core values are wisdom, honour, and tradition. We observe the universe transform, but observe it from a distance, while we remain unchanging and superior.

[Filter]

[identity profile] not-annika.livejournal.com 2011-12-19 01:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Unchanging and superior, would you elaborate?
timesbureaucrat: (bureaucrat)

[Filter]

[personal profile] timesbureaucrat 2011-12-20 08:06 am (UTC)(link)
I shouldn't think it needs elaborating. Our traditions have stood the test of time--millions of years. It's only right that from our position of power we observe the younger races and occasionally guide those who achieve a high enough level of technological and cultural sophistication.

[identity profile] not-annika.livejournal.com 2011-12-20 09:21 am (UTC)(link)
Our universes are different. There are many ways to describe superiority in my own: mental discipline, physical strength, intelligence, conquest or even spirituality. "Superiority" is a subjective term, unique to a species.

Our race is the oldest and mightiest in our universe. [Oldest still alive at least. "Still alive" in his relative time...for now.]

That is why the non intervention policy is so crucial. Without it we could easily become galactic tyrants like our fore-bearers before the Revolution.
