[Seven stands in the dining hall. She's alone and the kitchen is closed behind her.] Despite repeated requests for assistance in the kitchen, there are now officially no other members of staff for lunch-time.

As such, the kitchen will be closed during these times until I get the assistance I require to feed approximately one hundred individuals.

[She's serious. There's only fruit and blood (and possibly Quarian nutrients ) available with the usual tea and coffee stuff.]

Has anyone tried recruiting the unpaired inmates? Maybe we can offer some incentives.

I have sent out multiple messages to encourage volunteers. As it stands, all shifts are straining. Porridge is only being prepared for breakfast and sandwiches otherwise. So far it has not prompted response.

As far as incentives, other than provided communal assistance, occupying one's time while onboard, not to mention adequate food, I'm not sure what I can offer.

Time in the CES, a night in the bar, maybe a special meal... We've got this untapped resource in unpaired inmates, might as well try to get them to volunteer since they don't have any wardens to force them.

Can we prepare our own food?

[Tiny thread of worry here. She's just learning to hunt and she doesn't know if the CES will give her helpful settings.]

Dinner and breakfast will continue to function as best they can. Do you require meals more often than that?

I don't know yet. [When your body is still new, and you're from a ship where you usually get your horrible looking food from a horrible tube, it's hard to tell.]

Why can't wardens help? [Genuine question.]

We have at least four replicators on board now; perhaps the more logical course of action would be to request an allocation of them to the kitchens and mess hall.

Occupations on board are designed to assist in creating a sense of community and responsibility: valuable traits in an inmate. It would be illogical to discard the opportunity simply because it is inconvenient at this time. Your recommendation is noted, however.

Cutting out a meal in its entirety will not create a sense of community and responsibility. This has been a problem for years, now. It would be wiser simply to make certain everyone is fed, and then worry about what traits any given inmate ought to learn.

I'd be happy to offer my time as well, ma'am, if you reconsider things. [There's a slightly wry grin.]

If only because I can put away a heck of a lot of food.

[It's like Alanis Morrisette's version of irony here. Plenty of help and no inmates.] Appreciated. Perhaps in a month.

Seven, while your motivations are understandable, I agree with Constable Fraser. Depriving everyone - not merely Inmates, but everyone on board - of regular meals is...unreasonable. Inmates in other gainful employment, on other meal shifts, their Wardens, and anyone unassigned - they cannot take responsibility for this situation, but they will be affected by it. It also places undue pressure on both my own and Miss Parker's meal shifts, which I'm sure is not your intent.

With minimal assistance from either Inmates or Wardens, you would be able to at least provide the components of a meal, even without any kind of preparation, as a temporary measure.

The matter is closed. I have sufficient volunteers.

Damnit. Guess offering to donate to their cause won't do much, here. Oh how he hates having to actually do things]

Alright, give me your frilliest apron and two hair nets and we'll be set to go. Because I'm not shaving this beauty off. It's a work of art.
