016 - All On My Own

[Seven stands in the dining hall. She's alone and the kitchen is closed behind her.] Despite repeated requests for assistance in the kitchen, there are now officially no other members of staff for lunch-time.

As such, the kitchen will be closed during these times until I get the assistance I require to feed approximately one hundred individuals.

Thank you.

[She's serious. There's only fruit and blood (and possibly Quarian nutrients ) available with the usual tea and coffee stuff.]

Oh, dear. I'd be happy to offer my time, ma'am.

All right, but under the circumstances...

Which is why I'm offering to volunteer, ma'am. My own inmate already has a job, one I can hardly ask him to leave.

Personally, I can manage on very little, but I'd hate to deprive the rest of the Barge when there's a surplus of available labor. Are you sure there are paired inmates who aren't currently employed in other positions? On the other hand, it's my impression that few wardens are employed beyond the duty of caring for their inmates. I know I, for one, have a great deal of time on my hands to help the ship, and I'd like to do that in any way I can. [SINCERITY.]

At any rate, I'd like to request full rations for my inmate, Roy Slater.

With all due respect, ma'am, I believe everyone in our care is entitled to three meals a day, comprised of sufficiently balanced meals. Given that we have the food available, an apparent shortage of hired employees, and a number of willing volunteers, the temporary solution seems obvious to me.

I understand your position, but I believe maintaining the well-being of our community is of greater moral importance than the occupational therapy provided by the job, particularly if there are lacking inmates to benefit from said therapy.

Once more, I would like to request that my inmate, Roy Slater, be given three full meals a day. He earns his keep, ma'am.

Ma'am, you are-- [Fraser's just about ready to explode, here, but he clamps his mouth shut and swallows it back.]

I see.

In that case, I would like to requisition sufficient provisions to provide my inmate with a daily lunch myself.
